Dispute Resolution
A Practical Alternative to Court
Conflict doesn’t have to lead to litigation. Mediation offers a private, efficient way to resolve disputes while allowing participants to control the outcome without government interference.
My firm provides certified mediation services throughout Ohio, helping individuals, families, and businesses reach fair and lasting resolutions without the financial and emotional toll of a courtroom battle.
A Background Built for Resolution
Before entering the legal profession, I served as a peace officer handling some of the most intense and emotional conflicts people can experience. That real-world experience taught me how to bring calm to volatile situations, help opposing sides be heard, and guide even the most difficult conversations toward resolution.
Those same skills now form the foundation of my mediation practice. Each session is conducted with patience, neutrality, and respect, because meaningful progress only happens when people feel understood.
Mediation Hourly Rate: $250 (typically divided between participants)
Why Choose Mediation
Mediation is a structured process in which a neutral third party, the mediator, helps participants discuss issues, explore options, and reach their own voluntary agreement. Advantages include:
- Privacy: Mediation discussions remain confidential.
- Control: Participants—not a court—decide the outcome.
- Efficiency: Most disputes settle far faster than litigation.
- Flexibility: Agreements can address practical and emotional needs beyond what courts can order.
- Reduced Conflict: Communication improves, and relationships often recover instead of collapse.
Mediation provides clarity and closure without the hostility or unpredictability of trial.
Areas of Mediation Offered
My firm provides civil, family, and workplace mediation services across Ohio, including:
1. Civil & Commercial
Contract disputes, small business conflicts, landlord-tenant matters, property boundaries, and neighborhood disagreements.
2. Family & Domestic
Parenting plans, separation or divorce terms, inheritance disputes, and extended-family communication breakdowns.
3. Workplace & Employment
Interpersonal conflict, management communication issues, performance misunderstandings, and team cohesion matters.
4. Community & Organizational
Nonprofit, religious, and community-based organizations seeking structured, neutral facilitation before conflict spreads.
Each mediation is tailored to the people involved, not a preset formula.
The Mediation Process
1. Intake & Agreement to Mediate
An initial discussion sets expectations, defines the scope of the dispute, and confirms confidentiality.
2. Private Meetings (if necessary)
The mediator may meet individually with each participant to clarify concerns.
3. Joint Mediation Session
Structured discussion helps each side express their perspective and identify shared interests.
4. Negotiation & Resolution
The mediator facilitates compromise and helps draft clear, practical terms.
5. Memorandum of Understanding
Agreements are summarized in writing for later review or formalization by counsel.
Mediation sessions are available in person or virtually, depending on the participants’ needs.
Why Mediation works best
Mediation is most effective when the participants:
- Prefer resolution over prolonged conflict;
- Are open to listening and finding common ground;
- Recognize that certainty and control are more valuable than “winning.”
My firm helps parties move past entrenched positions toward solutions that make sense legally, financially, and personally.
